Teach in India through the Tara.Ed Teacher Tour

The Teacher Tour is Tara.Ed’s flagship volunteer program. It is a structured teacher training program that allows Australian teachers and pre-service teachers to participate in a professional skills exchange in a rural Indian partner school. This facilitates the sharing of knowledge with Indian teachers, whilst simultaneously allowing the Australian teachers to develop their own teaching skills. As well as a professional skills exchange, the Tara.Ed Teacher Tour facilitates a cultural exchange, to build important 21st century skills such as cross-cultural communication and intercultural understanding.

The Tara.Ed Teacher Tour thus enables both Australian and Indian teachers to gain essential skills with which to shape young lives.

Lasting 3 weeks, Teacher Tours are tied to an academic program allowing pre-service teachers from Australian Universities to develop important Asia Capabilities and apply for practicum credit toward the attainment of their teaching degree. Each tour incorporates two weeks (12 days) teaching in a Tara.Ed partner school, and one week to enjoy the sights and culture of Incredible India.

Because Tara.Ed values quality over quantity, our teacher tours are limited to 10 participants and are led by qualified Australian teachers who are experienced with travel in India and can provide the appropriate support for the experience.
